«What should an object look like?”  Codes of ethics, do they help or hinder?

Hva påvirker avgjørelser i konserveringsprosesser?

Begrenset antall plasser. Se påmelding under.

“Staff of Finnish Aviation Museum collaborates closely with volunteers in many aspects of museum duties. Restoration of aircraft involves one of the most active and largest groups of volunteers in our museum. More comprehensive conservation approach of aircraft has been the goal at the museum lately, but involving volunteers in such a work has both limitations and positive consequences. Which tasks in restoration are both suitable in skill wise and same time motivating enough for a group of volunteers? Which tasks would be more suitable for very limited collection staff? I discuss different approaches and compromises made in the aircraft restoration projects during the last ten years in our museum.”

14:30 – 15:00 – Break

15:00 – 16:00 - Operation Lilienthal. Preserving an original Normal-Segelapparat glider by Otto Lilienthal (1894) – Charlotte Holzer, Deutsches Museum Munich. This talk focuses on the ethics behind the ongoing conservation and communication strategies within the interdisciplinary team. All traces of the glider’s history will be preserved and contextualized for the future display.
